We may be arguing in the margins but I wouldn't put Triple 8 distillations, specifically their "Notch Whiskey" (as in Not scotch whisky) in the same category as a single malt. Even the whiskey is spelled with an 'e' as opposed to the Scottish variant - perhaps scotch snobbery.

They did use Morrison Bowmore's master distiller and the Notch does taste similar to Bowmore Seadragon, and some of their 17 yr old cask strengths but most purists wouldn't consider it a true single malt.

I know, who cares what purists think? Personally, I like Notch but having been stationed in Scotland for 3 1/2 years I kind of got spoiled.
